"Nothing and no one in the house are intentionally cruel.
Everyone has the best of intentions."

The Routine

The Spastic House is a disability group home structured to support people who need it. Days follow routines. Medications are administered. Paperwork is completed. Staff rotate through shifts. Residents are cared for, supervised, and managed.

A quiet, structured house setting
Tension and mystery

The Incident

When a serious incident occurs within the house, the routines meant to protect begin to expose something else. Questions circulate. Accounts shift. No one quite agrees on what happened. Or who is responsible.

Care vs. Control

The novel moves quietly between residents and staff, showing how lives unfold inside systems designed for efficiency and safety. As scrutiny intensifies, the line between care and control begins to fade, not through malice, but through repetition and expectation.
